This estimator is a quick way to estimate what the ideal
lighting would be for the size of an outdoor arena.
Poles are the greatest expense initially. The gain with
greater pole counts cause a more even light distribution. The quickest way to
reduce the cost is by reducing the poles. This can be done by putting brackets
on poles (Bullhorns) and mounting more lights per pole. This will cause greater
spot lighting effects, but it can reduce the initial cost considerably. Another
concearn with mounting more lights per pole is that the pole may not be able to
handle the weight of the multiple fixtures. When a wind storm comes the light
fixtures act as a kite and can cause the pole to fall over if the pole is not
correctly configured. Please call us to discuss your actual lighting needs.
Other ways to reduce the cost is find alternate mounting
methods for the lights. The lights can be mounted via a yoke which is an
adjustable bracket that can be lagged bolted into a surface. By adding this
type of mounting you could attach the lights to building, stands, or wood
poles.
Be wary of mounting the lights low. The light fixtures need
height to spread the light evenly out over the areana area. If the lights are
mounted low you may have an extreme spot light effect.
The poles that we sell are designed to be mounted on a
concrete base. We can also sell a direct burial version. Before ordering the
lights it would be advisable to call us and confirm the light and pole mounting
confiuguration.
Pole freight is free for all pole orders over 3. Pole orders
of 3 or less will have freight added. The Poles are usually shipped from
Detroit or Reno. However, if you need poles quickly we have multiple warehouses
throughtout the United States.
